Our second day was Wednesday June 2 and the weather continued sunny and got much warmer (high 80’s). We made our way across North Dakota, which was surprisingly and pleasantly less flat than I remembered. Small buttes and hills gave way to an area called the North Dakota badlands and Teddy Roosevelt National Park. Stunning views of the badlands were visible from the parking area.

This was the location Teddy visited that motivated him to create the National Park system.

This is an area where wild horses can graze freely and are protected. I hope to take the car tour sometime in the future.

On to Montana where wide open valleys gradually rose into hills and then mountains with snow still on them. The highlight was seeing two bald eagles fly over me while I drove on the highway.
